Vintage Kindness

For people who pop by here a lot, it'll come as no surprise that I love SCS. When an ebbing mojo is annoying the bejeezers out of me...I can pop by here and marvel in the creative juices of others. Now (again) this is another Vintage Vogue card, but it was sent to a dear friend....Andrea....who in her own right inspires me not only with her creativity, but also her ability to cope with all my quirky comments!!!! She (amongst all the other trials and tribulations that life throws at all of us) hit a speed hump with an injury to her hubby. I felt the sentiment of this card was very appropriate. it was a direct CASE from this card. I however do not posess Groovy (or as some have called it Gruesome) Guava and I know Andrea is a fan of pink. So here is my version.

Here are some close ups of the flowers with clear crystal centres and raised on Dimensionals.

The hardest thing was to line up the leaves that were stamped on the card to line up with the flowers. In fairness...I also broke out the pearls and used those too. I have left the sentiment off this one....so I can get it out and use it as needed.

Gives it a totally different feel don't you think?? Bargain find...the pearl in the large flower.....I found in the Reject Shop.....12 of them for $1....how cool is that???? of course I did not just get 1 packet...so I have them in a couple of colours, pastel and bold.

The card did the trick for Andrea...and made her smile. It's always nice to make someone feel better...don't you think?

Catch you next time.

Stuff Used:
CS: (SU) Whisper White
Ink: (SU) Regal Rose, Pretty In Pink, Mellow Moss
Stamp: (SU) Vintage Vogue

I also got to bust out my Martha Stewart Double Loop punch......LOVE IT!!!!!!

I promise that I will give you all a break from this colour combination...as I realise I have done it to death the last couple of posts...but it is PURDY!!!

Thanks for dropping by.

Floral Punchy Zeros!!!

Thought I'd share a couple from the vault to show you where I have come form. before I started stamping, I used punches and paper to put together cards that showed people how much I care. Here are two cards for those who had "zero birthdays"

The flowers on this card are done with a punch called Primative Heart, add a small oval for the centre a flower pot and some leaves....easy!!

This one is a little more intricate in that there are trimmed ovals and sprials for the kettle spout. The handle is 2 Boomerangs and the large green leaves are larger versions of the small red flowers with a bit of hand detailing.

Also didn't realise I had such a gingham thing going back then...LOL!!!

The final one is the pansy. Now there are a lot of them around blog land at present, done with a butterfly punch, some water and some reinker. These are just plain old hears of different sizes, some watercolour crayons and some hand detailing. i love this look though.

I hope you enjoyed this trip back in time as much as I did. there are MANY different punches used in these cards...too many to list, so if you have any questions in particular, let me know in the comments and I will help in any way I can. Thanks for stopping by.

Gotta love the sharing thing!!!

This (is hopefully) one of the last refrences I will make to the crafter's retreat...cause I am sure you are all sick and tired of me rabbiting on about it!!! One of the fantastic things is that you get to see and use equipment/sets/inks/mediums that you may not have had access to in the past or at all.

Like most, I find male cards more than a wee challenging, so when I saw this image I jumped at the chance to stamp a couple off and use for later. Unforunately, I do not know the name of this stamp or who makes it...so if anyone out there knows...please let me know.

I stamped the image in Stazon Black and coloured it with my watercolour pencils and crayons. I then mounted it on More Mustard and Not Quite Navy. I also distressed the edges. Here's what I came up with..

Let me know what you think. Thanks for dropping by again.

Stuff used:
Card: (SU) Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Watercolour Paper
Ink: Black Stazon, SU Not Quite Navy
Stamp: Boat image - unknown, Vintage Labels
Other bits: SU Cutter Kit, Faber-Castell Water Pencils, Lyra Aquacrayons.

Another BOT...or 2!!!

Andrea Walford made a FAB card with the Lots of Bots set here. Now I have NO intentions of trying to replicate 100% one of her masterpieces, but I did put my own take on this card of hers. I am luvin' this Lots of Bots set.....so much fun and in clear mount I can't go wrong!!

Here is my version of Andrea's card....

I stamped out the robot on the DP too and then cut and stuck the bits I wanted...I am loving this effect...as I have used it a lot of late!! I also got to use some Crystal Effects on the numbers...just for something different.

Miss 5 also attended a classmate's 6th birthday recently so i broke out the bots again!! I had some orange and white polka dot DP that just happened to match Tangerine Tango....too lucky. Mix that with some Pacific Point and a bit of binary fun and you have the following....

I stamped off the binary code behind the "6", but with the clear mount stamps it was all too easy. Love the effect too.

Rest assured...there will be more BOT action as time goes on!!

CS: (SU) Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, Whisper White and Royal Blue and Red textured card fm stash
Ink: (SU) Basic Black, Night of Navy, Tangerine Tango, and Versacolour Scarlet for the "11"
DP: Both Franchenville...but unfortunately I cut the names off them!!! arrrggghhhh!!!!
Other bits: Silver Nickel Brads, Bella Chipz Numbers, Upkit Gold 6 sticker, 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 SU square Punch, SU mat pack set (to line up holes for the brads!!).

Crafter's Retreat #6....the final one I promise!!!

I have used this getaway to try and do projects I would not usually get a chance to do around the house. One especially is Missy's birthday card (her b'day is early June). If I get this done at home...she is always over my shoulder and I can never surprise her......so camp provised the PERFECT cover!!

At camp I swapped some images with a fellow crafter Steph. as 'payment' she gave me some 12 x 12 paper. She had seen me colouring the hair on the image i was using on the card....and from her payment...the card evolved....don't you just LOVE it???

So here is Miss 6's card....

I stamped the beautiful Princess Anya (The Greeting Farm) onto SU watercolour paper and coloured her up with a mix of watercolour pencils and watercrayons. I tried to get her hair the same shade as Miss 6's but missed the mark BIG TIME!!! LOL!! Here is what it was really meant to look like.. think I needed to up the red a tad huh???

Anyhow...I stamped the dress onto the Bella Rose DSP and another pink DP I had, cut around it and put it back together over the original dress I stamped. I added hot pink KindyGlitz to the star and crown (cause unlike her Mum she LURVES pink) and continued that on the #6 at the base. it sparkles very much IRL. A couple of flower brads to tie in the paper with the image and there you go!!! Unfortunately I cannot recall the name of the numbers set I borrowed.....if anyone knows...can they please let me know in the comments??

I love this card and I sincerely hope she does too. now all I have to do is get something to go with it..hee hee hee.

Thanks for stopping by and enduring all of the Crafter's retreat posts...you can all give yourself a pat on the back!!!

Paper: Bella Rose DSP (in dress) and pink DP fm stash and the DP fm Steph.

Crafter's Retreat #5

Yes....and still the creations come!!!!

The FAB Debbie P posted the most amazing wee box project sometime back...here....and I KNEW I had to give it a crack. I wanted to give it to my MIL for Mother's day. For this project I broke out the stunning Cottage Wall DSP and used the co-ordinating colours in that to make it work. I had many crafters looking at me put this together...and Debbie you'll be very happy to know it has a HUGE ooooooooooo and ahhhhhhhh factor!!! Debbie used the too cute Magnolia stamps...I decided to play a wee more with my Vintage Vogue clear mount stamps. The also very talented Kez and done some similar things here and here.

Here 'tis....fm all angles...LOL!!!

Fm the top...

With the top popped....showing the hidden calendar and the paper drawer open for those quick notes....

Sorry abt the variance in colour.....I tried to get it all the same but failed badly!! :(

Some close ups of the flowers on the easel and stand.....

...and finally a close up of the feature

...Oh yeah....and I did my first Build-A-Brad!!

The punch and 1/2 pearl combo.............

Crafter's Retreat #4

I have recently aquired the 5th Avenue Floral stamp Set (and yes if you are adding it up at home I have spent a bit lately...LOL!!) and I wanted to use it for my MIL's Mothers Day card. I took it one step further and did a half sheet wonder of sorts. The rose in this set co-ordinates with the embossing folder...so there are many possibilities there. I have been also trying to challenge myself and use colour combos that I would not usually try. In this instance it was Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss....wow.....what a beautiful combo. Has never used NQN before...but it has quickly become a fave!!!

Here are the results, again a minor twist and the look changes!!

The sentiment on this card was a little 'bare', so I grabbed the Baja flower fm the half seet wonder and stamped it over the sentiment...LOVE the way it worked out!!

And finally the one for my MIL for Mother's Day.....

The sentiment for this card was devised from the "Wonderful Favourites" set. I stamped "Mother" first then lined up the 'to my' over the top and then punched it out. You have to make do with what you have right???

Stuff used:
Card: (SU) Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White.
Ink: (SU) NQN, BB, KK
Punches: (SU) Large and Small Oval, Scallop Oval Punch.
Stamps: (SU) Fifth Avenue Floral, Wonderful Favourites, Best Yet and Amy R "Birthday Sentiments" set.

Crafter's Retreat #3

A set I recently aquired was the amazing Vintage Vogue set from SU's Autumn mini. this set is so fun to use and I got it in clear mount....so it speeds cards up in the blink of an eye. I have had a couple of ideas bouncing round the brain (very similar to the 80's Atari game "Pong" for those old enought to remember) and I wanted to keep them faily plain and simple. All have the same CS and ink combo with the same basic layout, but a tweak here and a twist there and the results (I think) are beautiful!!

And a close up of the flowers......They are raised up on a dimensional!!

Hope you enjoyed looking at these as much as I did making them.

Stuff Used:
Card: (SU) Very Vanilla
Ink: (SU) Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Old Olive
Stamps: (SU) Vintage Vogue, Whimsical Words (SAB 09 set), Great Friend.
Other bits: (SU) Dimensionals, 1/2 Ivory Pearls fm stash.

Crafter's Retreat #2

Thought I'd start this one off by showing you exactly where I was for that weekend. It was held at the Collaroy Salvation Army camp, where we have been this past 3 years and it is a truly magical place to be inspired and create.

Here are the views that we are greeted with from the dining room...

And here is where we crafted....

And some of the magical cards produced.....

There was a fantastic mix of Scrappers and card makers and even 1 cross stitcher (the sister of the organiser...so of course she got an inside running....LOL!!!)

Now for some more of my creations.....

I have been hanging out a lot to get the Manhattan Rose Embossing folder fm SU and gave it a run at camp. On SCS there are many cariations of this card...but it was my first real fling with Vellum and I am wrapped with the result. My Prob has always been how to get the vellum to adhere well to the CS without too much tell-tale traces. HUZZAH!!!!! The results.....

I so love the intricate detail of this folder....

I can see myseld doing a lot more of these cards as they go up in a flash and are spectacular. Will definitely drag out the vellum again too. I love the way it looks in the Scallop Oval Punch (note to self to sharpen same) with the sentiment on top.

Catch you all soon with yet more!!

Stuff used:
Card: (SU) Whisper White, Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry, Vellum.
Ink: (SU) Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry
Other bits: Vellum Spray Adhesive, (SU) Dimensionals and Scallop Oval Punch.
